When fashion designer Suzanne Rae talked recently with old friends and BMC classmates, Michele Tantoco and Jess Honig, and discovered that they were working together on a dance project, she thought it would be a terrific idea to use that as an opportunity to show some of her design work.  Little did she think that they would talk her into dancing again or that she’d be back in the studio getting into shape after a several year hiatus from dancing.  Jess too had not danced much, busy as she was in developing her therapeutic practice and only when she moved back into the area and contacted Michele, who is a go-to dancer for many of the regions top choreographers, did she start working again.

But watching them shoot this video, you would never know it. Working through the choreographry, largely developed by Jess, they performed both individually as dancers and together as a group as though they had never missed a day in the studio.  Their short bios are below, along with this link to Suzanne’s web site.  Enter the site, scroll right until you get to “unfold” and sit back and enjoy the video, which was shot and edited by Gabello Studios…OR

Suzanne Rae Pelaez lives and designs out of Brooklyn. Her career path after Bryn Mawr included working in the art gallery scene in New York, the design ateliers of Costume National in Milan and Morgane Le Fay in New York, and study at Parsons The New School for Design. Her ready-to-wear line, both feminine and feminist in philosophy, is inspired by and made for the progressive and modern woman and with social awareness and sustainability as a part of the foundation, the company always apply a careful consciousness while creating clothing. Suzanne danced and performed throughout her four years at Bryn Mawr and she graduated in 2001 with a degree in Economics.

Jessica Honig is a psychotherapist with a focus area of anxiety relief. Her work employs flow – a technique she coaches for optimizing the present moment that helps unlocks creative and calming energy. Her training includes graduate work in creativity and human development at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and clinical social work at Smith College.  Jess graduated in 2001 from Bryn Mawr with a double major in Dance and Math.I

Michele Tantoco is a dancer and movement educator living in Philadelphia. She has danced or collaborated with several Philadelphia choreographers including Leah Stein, Gabrielle Revlock, Meg Foley, Nicole Canuso, Charles Anderson, Kate Watson-Wallace, Jumatatu Poe as well as London-based choreographers, Sean Feldman and Siobhan Davies. Michele danced and performed during her four years at Bryn Mawr and graduated in 2001 with a major in Biology.
